Here for Danny very sweetly talking about how much he loves Sunny 🥹 also extremely here for a 2+ hour length! Too long for a movie, exactly right for a Dear Danny. I’m glad to hear her teeth seem to be improving - hope y’all have had some rest since then!!
Omg legit. Reminding himself he needs to interact with her when he's looking at how cute she is. Stahp. I thought I do a good job gushing about my friends adorable kids to them but I gotta step up my game
From one news-addicted-doomer-in-partnership-with-someone-who-still-cares-but-is-more-level to another, it is often soooooo grounding that he has the same values and concerns but is able to stay present and pull me back to the present. Everything sucks AND you still deserve to enjoy your life and love and be loved. Sounds like you both already do things locally that meaningfully help your community which is all we can really do! Will your partner sharing in your misery make anything better? Would it even make you feel better? Truly think if I was with someone who responded to things the way I do, I would kms lol. Highly recommend a 10-min catch up on the things that suck/are scaring you and then putting your phone away to do a crossword/play backgammon/go for a walk together and talk about literally anything else!!
Echoing Haley’s rec to read history too! I’m reading China Mieville’s history of the Russian revolution (October), love it
Also must rec a brick or some other difficult-to-break app control so that you stop consuming every single piece of news. It doesn’t do anything except make you miserable!
came here to say exactly this!!! i often get frustrated that my bf won't panic with me and it wasn't until i brought it up—why don't you feel as crazy as I do—that I understood why (he just doesn't find it a comfortable space whereas i somehow still think i can panic my way out of the bad news) and have even come around on being grateful that we process information like that differently. my partner is also really well informed and engaged and it makes me feel safe that if things were really dire, he'd take action...he just doesn't want to stew about it with me before then.
I’m only partway through the intro but need to comment that I think the long poop toilet sit is a total male conspiracy. Why do men need that long to poop?? I’m convinced that it’s just been passed down as a way for them to escape from the crushing reality. I also poop in 60 seconds but somehow my husband (despite having caffeine-induced shits every morning, sorry TMI) takes 15 min 🤔 lol anyway, back to the pod
hahaha I have raised this to avi and he SWEARS it takes a long time. he is stunned by my speed and doesn't understand how it even works! but what if he's lying...
I agree it’s probably not intentional at the individual level, but more a systemic byproduct in a society where men are allowed to take breaks more in the home. With more household responsibilities, women are more rushed and maybe have learned to make it quick? That’s my theory
Yes 100% deep conspiracy, mine also starts the shower when he enters the bathroom from years of old houses where the water took forever to get hot and I’m like…we live in modern society now?? lol but still usually like “ring around the cheeks” long, too long.
sadly can confirm I am a woman who genuinely needs that long to poop 😔 intriguing theory though! I do not have caregiver responsibilities (other than cats, lol) so definitely can “afford” the longer time
To the last questioner… one easy option is to mute your stories from him (so he can’t see them!). At least it’ll get him to stop replying and he might get the hint ??
i knew i had cooked my instagram alg (positive) when i got an ad encouraging me to donate to a local sperm bank, thus completing my ruse (i am a trans dude)
also as someone squarely in the millenial-gen z no man's land ('97 baby) i think danny's fit in the photo is perfection 🤌 and the pic of him and sunny is sooooo cute come ON
also as someone from a notoriously standoffish city with far more effusive in-laws from the other side of the country (why are east coasts always the ones with the reputation for being more reserved?? someone should study this), i feel for the 'love you' questioner!! but yes unfortunately you do just gotta say itl, even if it makes you feel weird or even a little dishonest! maybe think of it as a little act of prelude to when your relationship is more substantial and you do actually feel it??
I’m the questioner with the flirty neighbour. Y'all had me laughing so hard. I’ve kept up spacing my responses to days after he sends me a message and am now just waiting for summer to end and swimming is no longer an option lmao. Strongly considering the “down boy” suggestion :’) PS I live in Vancouver and we are in our 30s. PPS He is objectively pretty hot but his keenness (and family of course) has totally turned me off.
To the “I love you” questioner - you can also toss off a “you too!” if that feels less weird than a “love you.” My gfs mom was def saying I love you to me on the phone before I felt “ready” to say it (lol) but I think it’s worth it for the long term relationship to return the sentiment in some form!
For the pregnant questioner disappointed in their friend, when my sister was pregnant for the first time I found it hard to be excited for her and engage in the milestones of pregnancy or properly sympathise with her symptoms. I didn’t have anyone with kids in my life and it was hard to imagine what it would be like to have a baby in the family/ understand what a big life event it is. Then when my niece was born she meant the world to me and it finally clicked :-) Now I cry whenever I find out someone is pregnant lol. I think for people who don’t want kids in the immediate future, it’s hard to imagine what the fuss is about but it becomes real at some point and you can share in the excitement.
2:22:22 run time? ok angels!!!
ok WOW
The ‘I love you’ questioner signing off their email to you two “love you guys” made me laugh. But great question ahaha
No wayyy hahaha how did we not notice this. Amazing
I literally kept saying out loud WHEN ARE WE GONNA TALK ABOUT THE SIGNOFF 🤣
I noticed it too - so funny, it was the perfect end to the question!
Same- so funny!
😂😂😂 so good

“i would kms” LOLLL tru tho, if both ppl r panicking then who’s running the ship?

Re the flirty guy - a simple “aren’t you married?! 😂” would suffice surely!!!!

I’m glad to hear that it’s not just men! I hope you are able to enjoy your sitting time. There are exceptions to every rule 😜
“men are time, women are space” going in the vault
Also Danny is extra hot with the new look!!!! (I am married)
Feel like this is a Julia Kristeva quote ??
Yeah, what is that quote and where did it come from? Interest piqueddddd
To the last questioner… one easy option is to mute your stories from him (so he can’t see them!). At least it’ll get him to stop replying and he might get the hint ??
ohhhh duh that's genius
:)
Omg thank you
Your “That’s a full non sequitur or…?” when Danny started talking about Shia LaBeouf made me lol
there r so many comedic moments like this that are naturally born out of haley and danny’s conversational dynamic that make me fully lol every ep
a dear Danny dropping is literally turning my whole week around 🥲🫶🏼
I'm honored 🥺

My god yes
