(74 mins) | Welcome back to Pop Quiz, my semi-regular pop culture roundup, this time with returning expert Avi Bonnerjee and perfect human Michelle Uranowitz (maybe you remember her from this ep about spiraling on Instagram). This week we discuss everything from Lorde’s rebrand to John Mulaney’s PR disaster to my latest Instagram follow. And so much more!
Re: the cognitive processing that makes us feel like we know celebrities-- I've realized that this is why I can't watch award shows, especially the emmys! I watch and love TV so much, that it feels like an event when all my friends are together and I am not there, so I can't be In On the whole experience.
okay not to be *that girl* but this is for sure a misreading of Lorde's whole Thing now!
The album is not about finding ~~meaning~~ in the unplug, but about climate anxiety (Leader of a New Regime), legacy (Oceanic Feeling), public eye (Dominos), etc and her look and outlook are more about how everything is fucked, nothing really means anything, so let go/ live the day to day. Also Billie's album also discusses the debrand (in Not My Responsibility).
Definitely listen! Their release was delayed by the producer bc of covid issues, so not sure who had the "idea" "first" tbh. At any rate, it's a great idea, and a popular one, so makes sense a few different people would make it happen. I'd be curious what you think
Oh ok!! Yes I def don’t think Michelle’s cell service has been worse because she got Pfizer instead of Moderna hahah. Honestly that might be on me if that wasn’t clear ðŸ˜
Also just remembered the other vaccine comment about the rollout backfiring and now I can see maybe what you meant!! You’re not nuts. But yes to double confirm we’re pro vax here
This is VERY funny because I'm listening this podcast late and I have my period so maybe not technically in sync but also in sync somehow

Hunter S. Thompson.... the original #TruthTeller for the boomer generation!
Thank you for advocating for baldness. Xo, bald millenial.
But wait, the *premier* celebrity book club podcast you should link to is this one! Lily and Steven ftw https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/celebrity-book-club-with-steven-lily/id1547360770
Haven't heard this one before! Should I? I felt bad for Ashley and Claire when this one launched with the exact same idea after theirs! lol

Omg!!!
It was there YESTERDAY
"Like idiots" hehe. Not true, now you can do a meta episode -- your take on everyone else's takes! About to make lunch, can't wait to listen...
Is this a troll lol
No, I'm sorry! I didn't pick up on the joke!! Something must be off with me this morning, I thought you were being serious
