Question about the Vitamix...is it insanely loud? I understand it's a blender but do you have to plug your ears or put a towel over it?

We have a Ninja blender from Costco and it sounds like an airplane is in the room, thinking about upgrading.

recently upgraded to a vitamix from a ninja and was so happy to find that the vitamix is much quieter than the offensively loud ninja

I have a book rec for you Haley!! It is "The Word Pretty" by Elisa Gabbert. Don't know if you're familiar with her, but the entire time I was reading it, I was like wow I have to share with Haley (in my mind we are friends like that.)

Using an old school grease pencil for labeling things in the kitchen instead of sharpie or tape -- soooo convenient. Also I got a cutting board stand and it’s made my life so much easier. The boards really do stand....lol. And when I wash them it doubles as a drying rack! Great for small kitchens.

Can you share your cutting board stand? :D

I am a huge fan of the grease pencil for parties. Never mix up your wine or water glass again!

Yes! It's from Yamazaki Home, they have a few different ones but I think this is

these are excellent! curious because they didn't show up here (and I've been eyeing them): how do you feel about the Roucha jeans after some time with them?

Expand full comment

I still love my roucha pants!! I do think my love was stronger initially but it's still there and I wear them all the time!

I just ordered the J Crew boxer shorts 😂. For months I’ve honestly been looking for some really good high-waisted lounge shorts. They’re such a simple wardrobe staple but I have all these requirements for them. This J crew option looks pretty promising. If you come across any options, feel free to add those in the newsletter lol ;)!

Does anyone else have recs for high waisted lounge shorts or sweat shorts?

Also sweat pants/joggers that are sturdier/thicker?

Thank you!! These look perfect!!

Oh to have the money for a 300 dollar toaster (I’m on a pre k teacher income with luxury taste and socialist heart).

I love that chili crunchy oil with all my heart. I’m rushing to finish my okay chili oil so I can go back to eating those crisps straight out of the jar with a spoon.

Love these! Also a huge fan of my fridge magnetic whiteboard. I am trying to bring as few new items permanently into my house as possible lately and focus on systems or services that make my life better. Here are some:

- getting a bi-weekly housecleaner is the best money I’ve spent all year. I actually sent Christmas cards this year bc I had weekend energy and the house has just been cleaned

- “library hauls” aka going to the library and checking out anything that looks remotely interesting even if I don’t read it so I have like 30 books at once across all kinds of subjects

- switching to detergent sheets! I use earth breeze - they come in the mail and are tiny and a 3 months supply weighs like 2 ounces and take up no room compared to detergent. Amazing for small homes or laundromat-schleppers

- switching from purses and tote bags to mini backpacks so I can have my hands free all the time in the world… game changer

Love this list!! Also gonna ask for a rec for the amazing tastes of maybe baby readers - anyone know where to get good, comfy men’s jumpers??

I just bought yoga blocks last week! Recovering from an injury so in person classes aren’t an option yet. So nice to finally have for modifications and restorative.

Yes agree! One of those things I never thought to buy and then was so nice when I finally did

By far my favorite purchase this year is a Balmuda toaster. It steams the bread so it stays fluffy and doesn’t dry out, and produces truly high quality toast. Also it makes a cute noise when it’s done running. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/balmuda-the-toaster-white/s453441

Hello babies... are you reading this delightful newsletter while snuggled up under a big, comfy, delicious blanket?! If so.... what is that blanket??? My couch blanket is pathetically small and uncozy. I want something very bundle-able but not like fleece or super synthetic, ya know?? Just thought the exact group of people jumping to this comment section might have a good recommendation.

Expand full comment

Suay Sew Shop has an incredible cotton waffle one that’s stretchy and heavy but still thin enough you can fold and drape it over the couch without it looking insane! And bonus, they’re like the coolest company in the world, using deadstock and repurposed fabric 🥲

All my throw pillows are Suay and I love them so much!

Omg, I am snuggled under a big, comfy, delicious blanket, and it’s this one, from Pottery Barn: https://www.potterybarn.com/products/faux-fur-ruched-throw-collection/

I bought one for my mom as a Christmas gift last year (great gift, btw) and a couple months later bought one for myself too. It is the coziest, it’s nice and heavy, plus pets love it.

Expand full comment

Yup! These blankets are amazing. I love their weight - if you’re kind of hanging off the couch, it holds you in! But not in an oppressive weighted blanket type of way.

I am obsessed with the waffle bed blanket from Boll and Branch. VERY expensive but I got it as a gift and could be a nice thing for people to pitch in for! it's the only blanket I need! I am in it right now!! https://www.bollandbranch.com/products/waffle-bed-blanket/
