-put an egg on any leftovers and you have breakfast! Or quickly sauté some spinach with garlic and top it with a fried egg. Sometimes it’s just the toast that needs to go.

-cut up apple dipped in tahini or peanut butter

-cottage cheese with cut up grapefruit, it’s such a good combo!

-more of a winter breakfast cause it takes a bit of time on the stove but- teff porridge topped with tahini and maple syrup and some crunchy nuts and blueberries on top. Something magical happens with the tahini ans maple syrup.

Put an egg on it is the bomb! Especially left over flavored rice of any kind

Thank you for this it was great <3

Also when you say "a film I saw the trailer for in 2011" do you mean you saw the trailer and never actually watched the film? I hope that's what you mean, because there are so many trailers I've seen a million times, but I have never nor will I ever watch the actual movie, yet I know what it's about and what the lessons I would get from it are, and it felt really good for a second that someone else would use a movie they've never seen as a reference.

My breakfast recs:

- leftovers!!!

- dutch style pancakes (just normal pancakes -NO sugar in the batter) then add cheese/ham/veggies/fruit in them when they're on the pan)

- rye bread with anything and everything that's in your fridge (some sort of paste (cream cheese type thing or hummus or whatever), pickled veggies (beetroot is a personal fave) or fresh veggies/crudités, some sort of leafy shit, and crunch (nuts, seeds, fried onions, whatever), and some sort of sauce if you're feeling kinky)

I am such a fan of the mute option on Instagram! I'm trying to get better about my social media use and that was a step towards that :-)

I’ve made Julia Sherman’s granola recipe a dozen times and it’s never failed me! The crunchiest, most delicious, and not so sweet recipe in the world. It also works well even when you cut some sweetener (because you may have run out of honey and can’t be bothered to get more). You can find a print version in her book Arty Parties but I had been making it from her Instagram story highlights for ages before it came out

I love a savory oatmeal! Chop 1/4 an onion and two mushrooms, sauté in butter in a saucepan, add 1/3 cup of oats, add 1/2 cup of broth and cook down for five or so minutes. Top with herbs salt and pep! Change it up seasonally using different greens, veg, or broths (I use miso a lot!)

Huge fan of savory oatmeal! Super lazy version: salt, pepper, nutritional yeast. Don’t even need broth, just water. Tastes like risotto?? Breakfast risotto. Mix in any veg (my favs: zucchini, peas, mushroom like you said). That is it, it’s surprisingly good just like that, if you wanna make it with absolute minimal effort. If you like eggs, top with a fried egg

I’m a fan of Scandi and Turkish style breakfasts - you know like, some tangy yogurt and honey, some crudite, chunk of cheese, maybe toast or crispbread , maybe olives. Whatever is kind of kicking around in the fridge. A sort of breakfast “picky tea” as they say here in the UK

My suggestion since you like fun foods on sticks: it's freezer corndogs. They bake while you make your bed, very walkably edible for the gal on the go, and anyone you see will be curious or jealous or both. You're lazy but you're headed somewhere.

have you ever had a breakfast corndog? it’s sausage wrapped in some kind of faux pancake situation. was introduced at summer camp but the jimmy dean brand is a good substitute. a nice venn diagram overlap for gal on the go & new breakfast ideas :)

My breakfast suggestion is oatmeal topped with banana slices, blueberries, and a splash of oat milk. Sometimes I substitute the blueberries with strawberries. 👍

just got back from a trip to england and have to very enthusiastically recommend a discovery from that trip -- flapjacks. they're sort of like soft granola bars? but more like eating butter with a little bit of oatmeal in it, in the best way (also there might be some condensed milk i think). i can't describe how good they are but pls look into it!!!

The decadent breakfast I've been hyper-fixating on lately is this: Toast, covered in butter and jam of choice. Cook up some breakfast sausages, any kind work but I prefer like a maple or sweet varietal. Cook up an egg, I do fried over-medium. To assemble, add sliced avocado on top of the jammed toast, add flaky salt and lemon juice. None of that everything bagel shit. Put egg on top (salt, peppa). Sausage on the side, cut up, smothered in more jam. Assemble bites with a piece of everything. So good I want it right now. It should be noted I can usually only swing this on weekends, and I typically do not eat breakfast on the weekdays, like a heathen.

Miso soup is soooo good for breakfast just make a bunch and reheat. Chia pudding is also so easy and yummy but DOES sometimes make me feel like i’m eating frog eggs 🫶 hope this helps!!

Miso is my rec too! I buy this brand called Miso & Easy -- it’s more liquidy, so you just add a couple tablespoons to a mug, pour in some hot water, top with a little sliced scallion and you’re good to go.
