1) don't apologise for quoting yourself; your words bear repeating 2) you have an uncanny ability to write to exactly what I'm experiencing, and what I need to read in any given moment. I call August 'the down slide' because I swear time always speeds up at this point in the year and I blink and find myself at the Christmas dinner table. So my evergreen time fears get extra loud in the late Summer 3) I'm so excited about the database! I was literally just thinking about something I wanted to look up from one of your past newsletters but was intimidated by the task of finding it.
I wouldn’t say I love summer weather, but I certainly appreciate the amount of daylight hours! I get major anxiety/strong OCD symptoms in the winter. Mainly revolving around my kids (1, 4 and 6) and all of the illnesses that come! I also hate not being able to get outside as much.
Okay Haley or any of the other Maybe Baby readers, do you remember what that term was that she coined in one of her posts (I want to say from 2022-2023) where she described that perspective of overthinking simply based on what happened in the past few days rather than thinking more big picture? Like an anxiety trap or something. For some reason, this is bugging me that I can’t remember for the life of me lol
such a pleasure to go back and revisit some of these Haley! "generally not panicking when I experience a typical course of human emotion (my Everest)" from #88 made me laugh bc i have very much been experiencing the typical course of human emotion latlely (shocker!!), with all the associated sensation, for my control-addicted brain, of tumbling down a mountainside -- grateful for the reminder that it's Not Just Me 💖
Clicked on the first link (Xanax) and was thrilled to be transported to the week Folklore came out. August slipping away like a bottle of wine for the FIRST time, what a treat!
I love this so much! I’ve been on the couch sick this weekend, and yesterday I was scrolling back and looking for old Maybe Baby essays that I haven’t read yet. What a lovely coincidence that you’re archiving things and sent this along!

Love this! Quick question: what camera do y’all use for your photos?
Yes and maybe which film does Avi use? Those pics are amazing!
All I can say is - thank you for the gift of your writing Hayley!
Thanks for this Haley🫶work starts tomorrow imposter syndrome running high, no new boyfriend/summer fling – needed this badly.
