My weekly recommendation email sent every Friday at 12pm to paying subscribers. This email tells a story about my week through the lens of what I took in. It can include articles, movies, books, shows, recipes, songs, food, products, word definitions, images, tweets, etc.
Dear Baby
My advice/Q&A column that runs on the last Sunday of every month. Readers weigh in with their questions—either via this form or via voicemail (802-404-BABY)—and I collect a handful to answer thoughtfully in the monthly column, drawing from outside sources and my own life experiences. Questions range from existential to practical to nosy. Anything goes!
Dear Danny
This is the podcast counterpart to my Dear Baby column. It’s released mid-month on Wednesday at 12pm (as are all my podcasts) and is cohosted by my funny friend Danny, who is wise, acerbic, and blunt. Danny is a divisive character, too sharp for some people’s taste but beloved by just as many. We usually talk a bit about the written questions I answered on Sunday and then tackle some more. Again, no topic is off-limits! Common themes include love, friendship, and big life choices.

Quarterly Redistribution
Every quarter I redistribute a portion of subscriber proceeds to a different organization highlighted in the footer of my emails. I research before picking so you’re welcome to donate along if you’re looking for a cause to support.
Rec of the Week
Every week, at the end of my “15 things” email, I ask commenters for a “rec of the week” (ROTW). The recs have ranged from “what’s your favorite body wash/soap?” to “what’s your most life-changing kitchen utensil?” These questions aren’t throwaway bids for engagement, they are things I genuinely want recs for! I usually weigh in with my own thoughts but the real treat is the comment section, always full of incredible suggestions.
Voice Notes
A frequent podcast series wherein I speak directly to listeners about things that have been on my mind, especially ideas I’d like to keep to a smaller audience either because they’re controversial, private, or in flux. It’s not unlike an audio journal entry. I often include behind-the-scenes stories about the making of the newsletter and pull in things I’ve learned from other sources that I find relevant or interesting.
Pop Quiz
An occasional pop culture podcast series where a rotating cast of friends and I unpack various things going on in pop culture—celebrity news, media drama, internet gossip, etc.
Brief Endorsements
A very occasional Sunday series wherein I write an endorsement for something in under 1,000 words. My first was on short-term habits.

Can I reply to your emails?

You can submit a support ticket here.
Can I listen to your podcast in my podcast app?
Yes! To listen in your preferred app, click “Listen in podcast app” underneath the podcast widget that you receive via email or see on my website. Then it should automatically populate there every week. This is technically a “private feed,” meaning not anyone can just search “Maybe Baby” in their podcast app. It must be setup through Substack since it’s only for paying subscribers.
Can I listen to the podcast for free?
If you’re a free subscriber, I do periodically release episodes. See lists of free eps here and here. You can also just find them in whatever podcasting app you use.
If I become a paying subscriber can I see previously released paid content?
Yes you can! You can always browse my full archive on haleynahman.substack.com. There you can read all content that matches your subscription type.
Why can’t I comment on your essays?
I turned comments off for free subscribers starting in 2021. You can read why here. However, comments are turned on for paid subscribers.
